Welcome to Shifting Gears

First, let me be clear: I love coaching. It’s powerful, it’s fun, and it sparks insight. It opens doors for people to make meaningful shifts in their lives and it allows me to make the best use of my talents in service of others. I believe there is no time like the present for leaders in all areas of the world to critically address their thinking and ask, “Is this working?” “Are the assumptions and beliefs I cling to which form the basis for my decisions still relevant?”

I am drawn to working with executives and their teams because of the impact their decisions have on results and those who help make them happen. I also find that executives often don’t get the straight shot. They frequently feel isolated and unable to dive deep on internal struggles they face or to simply bounce ideas around. What my clients bring to their coaching conversations with me is more on leadership strength as opposed to their executive knowledge, the more technical side of their role. They are very different sets of skills. When combined masterfully, the effect is powerful and distinctive. I call it, executive leadership. Great executive leaders develop and engage both analytical and emotional thinking. They focus not only on what they have to do as an executive but how they have to be as a leader. Executive leadership at all levels, is a timeless, vital need. News headlines are testimony to that fact.

My clients are typically in positions to impact many decisions, directives, financial outcomes and lives not only domestically but globally.  Thinking is the genesis of all that happens next.  It drives what we choose to do and most deeply, who we are.

Our brains are amazing instruments with incredible power to create new critical thinking pathways, if we dare to build them.  Challenging one’s thinking is critical to developing an agile mindset. This is what defines the core of my coaching approach.

• The ethical code to admit a wrongdoing and the honor to make it right

• The commitment to keep your leadership fitness and your physical fitness sharp by exercising mind and body to meet the demands a leader faces

• Believing that to achieve anything of significance, you must possess the courage to take risks and get in the game.
