Successful
people have one thing in common…they
know they can be better and are always striving
to do so in some corner of their being,
their knowledge, their skills. A trap that
all of us fall into without realizing it
is that we keep using the same loop of thinking
to make judgments, take actions and respond
to situations that arise. This is because
our thinking processes and the connections
we make have been hardwired into us for
many years. Our past experiences and other
influencers create this hardwiring in our
thinking and it is our thinking that drives
our decisions and the way we choose to operate
in the world. When we can’t take in
new information or don’t see how it
will be effective in the first 20 seconds
of hearing it, we revert to our hardwired
beliefs and thinking processes.
As you rise in your career,
you need to know that what got you to where
you are, may not get you where you’re
going. This includes your thinking processes.
The thing is, it is hard if not impossible
to change our hardwiring but the great news
is you can build NEW WIRING! Our brains
are amazing organs that are highly underutilized.
We have such potential! You can actually
build new pathways to higher performance,
avoid the traps that repeatedly snare you
and your team, and add to your strengths
that are already working for you. So it’s
not about breaking down hardwiring; it’s
about constructing new wiring and
reinforcing those new roadways by the way
you think. This is what coaching actually
is at its core. Brain science is highly
connected to the coaching experience and
results. Are you interested yet?
